The body is not a footnote to the healing. She is the original text.
Trauma lives in the body. The Embodied Return is the practice of going back to find her.
What is The Embodied Return?
The Embodied Return is trauma-informed yoga — not as a fitness practice, but as a somatic pathway. A way of re-entering the body that was once unsafe to inhabit, with the care and safety that was not available the first time.
Ashley’s approach is choice-based and invitation-driven. Every movement is an offering, not an instruction. The body leads. The teacher follows. There are no mirrors, no performance expectations, no hierarchy of poses. Only presence, sensation, and the slow, patient work of expanding what the nervous system can tolerate — and eventually, inhabit with ease.
Yoga, in Ashley’s hands, is inseparable from the rest of the therapeutic work. The breath, the body, the felt sense — these are not supplementary. They are the practice.
She had spent decades fleeing her body. The Embodied Return is the practice of going back to find her — and discovering she was never as dangerous as she seemed.
The Approach
Trauma-informed means the practice is built around safety, choice, and the nervous system — not around achieving poses or building a yoga body.
Sessions begin with orientation and grounding. Movement is offered as invitation. There is always a choice to pause, to modify, to rest. The body’s signals are honored as information, not obstacles to push through.
Ashley weaves in breathwork, body-based tracking, and somatic awareness practices throughout. The goal is not flexibility or strength — it is felt sense. The body knowing, not just the mind.
How We Work Together
- Individual Sessions
One-on-one trauma-informed yoga sessions with Ashley. May stand alone or be integrated alongside individual therapy. 60–90 minutes. - Integrated with Therapy
For clients in the Sacred Rhythm, movement and embodiment practices can be woven directly into the therapy container. The body and the work become one. - Retreat Programming
Yoga and sound healing are woven throughout the Wild Gathering retreats as a daily group practice — preparation for the deeper work, and integration of it.
The Investment
The Embodied Return is a private pay offering. Session rates are shared during the consult conversation.
